I. Product Introduction

Portability

Portable measurement technology empowers manufacturers and production managers to conduct operations directly on the shop floor, significantly enhancing the flexibility and efficiency of quality control. The HandyPROBE Next™ Portable CMM Probe is highly resistant to environmental fluctuations and delivers high-precision measurement data. Eliminating the need for a fixed measurement setup, it outperforms traditional portable CMMs significantly in shop-floor environments.

The HandyPROBE Next system is fully functional, enabling real-time dynamic referencing between its scanning/probing devices and target points on the measured part. Both the C‑Track optical tracker and wireless probe can be moved freely during measurement while maintaining consistent, high-quality data output. Engineered to meet the stringent quality demands of modern manufacturing, the HandyPROBE Next Portable Optical Probe offers unmatched flexibility and a broader measurement volume compared to other portable CMMs.

II. Functional Features

C‑Track Dual‑Camera Sensor

Equipped with high‑grade optics and specialized illumination, the C‑Track dual‑camera sensor ensures reliable measurement of all reflectors within its working volume. Beyond tracking the system’s reference model, it integrates powerful capabilities: continuous image capture and transmission, reflector illumination, wireless communication with the HandyPROBE probe, data exchange management with the host computer, and sensor parameter storage.

High Precision

Delivers precision up to 0.02 mm, regardless of environmental conditions (instability, vibration, temperature variations) or operator skill level.

Measurement Volume

The MetraSCAN 3D scanner features an extended base measurement volume (9.1 m³ / 16.6 m³) compared to articulated‑arm 3D scanners. The measurement volume can be easily and dynamically expanded without compromising accuracy, eliminating the need for traditional leapfrogging or additional calibration tools. No data recalibration is required after repositioning the part or C‑Track.

Automatic Alignment

Eliminates manual alignment steps, drastically reducing human‑induced errors at the source. Optical reflectors enable fast, continuous scanning and probing of multiple identical parts.

Dynamic Referencing

The C‑Track’s dynamic referencing mode locks the coordinate system precisely to the measured part, maintaining part alignment throughout the scanning process. A certified tester supports a rapid calibration workflow, ensuring consistent accuracy over the entire lifecycle of the MetraSCAN 3D.

Fast & Intuitive Measurement

Armless & Wireless: Handheld, armless design offers unrestricted movement for inspections anywhere.
User‑Friendly: Intuitive operation with an extremely short learning curve; system setup completed in 5 minutes.
Efficient Workflow: Enables measurement of subcomponents within an assembly without reconfiguring for each part.

The fully portable MetraSCAN 3D allows inspection or reverse engineering of parts, subassemblies, or complex components anywhere—laboratory, production floor, or field site—while delivering unparalleled accuracy, mobility, and flexibility.
